About Us

In 2004 police Chief, Donnie Boleman, of the Royston Police Dept. started its law enforcement explorer post. The police explorer program is an opportunity for young adults between the ages of 14 and 20 years of age to become exposed to the basics of law enforcement. The Police Explorers Unit is a division of the Boy Scouts of America. We are a volunteer group of males and females who have weekly meetings and help assist the Police Department in numerous community events and special details such as parades, festivals, child fingerprinting and photo Id's, etc...
Explorers not only learn about Law Enforcement, but are also taught discipline, team work and leadership skills that will be an asset to them throughout their lives regardless of their choice of profession.

Exploring is Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 14 to 20 years old. Color, race, religion, gender, ethnic background, or economic status is not a criteria for participation.
Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Departments or agencies initiate and Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.
